Counselor Referral Directory

Sharing Parents provides this directory of counselors as a service to parents in the greater Sacramento area. Counseling is a very personal experience and its important for you to find a provider you trust. Counselors recommended by a Sharing Parents parent are noted as “Parent Recommended = Yes” as we feel parent recommendations are valuable; however, please remember that what worked for one person may not work for another. It may be best to try two or three counselors to find a professional you feel comfortable working with.

If you worked with a listed provider and would like to add a recommendation, please do so here.

We are not affiliated with these professionals, nor can we guarantee the benefits of any therapeutic service, but we hope you find the directory helpful in connecting with a counselor that fulfills your needs. Click on a counselor’s name to view additional information.

Description

Child loss and pregnancy loss are the most difficult experiences any parent can ever have. Grieving the loss of your child can feel like an impossible and insurmountable task. This type of loss can feel isolating and is a grief experience that is unique in of itself. Prior to private practice, I was a medical social worker in the Sacramento region for eight years. I worked in multiple healthcare systems including Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, UC Davis Medical Center, and Yolo Hospice. My work was primarily supporting families whose children were in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and pediatric intensive care units (PICU), as well as Pediatric Palliative Care. During that time I companioned and supported many families through the loss of their child or pregnancy. I understand the nuances and complexities involved in this type of grief, as well as the immense trauma that is child loss and pregnancy loss. My role as your therapist is to provide the support and understanding that many grieving parents have difficulty finding, as well as getting you to a place where you feel like you can function in life. We move towards finding the new normal, whatever that looks like, while integrating the memory of your child and honoring them in your life as you continue on.

In addition to my experience in supporting families during this season of life, I have advanced training in treating Perinatal Mood Disorders and hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification through Postpartum Support International. I look forward to connect with you.
